The Pocono Highland Dancers is a cultural and educational group of young dancers that promote Scottish Culture in the Pocono Mountain Area. The troupe was founded thirty years ago in Stroudsburg, PA.
The group is comprised of primarily young dancers of school age. The dancers actively participate in competitions throughout the US and Canada. They also perform Highland Dancing as entertainment for local audiences.
Lynne Erbrick, who was the first American to win the Junior World Championship in Dunoon, Scotland, founded Pocono Highland Dancers. Miss Erbrick is also an elementary school principal.
Co-director of the Pocono Highland Dancers is Kimbi John. Mrs. John was the first dancer for the troupe. Mrs. John is also a teacher in the Pocono Mountain School District. Both Mrs. John and Miss Erbrick are adjudicators for the Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing and Members of the BATD.
